The day after I installed Fedora 17...

I lifted the lid to wake my hp dv7-3085dx laptop and heard a 'pop' and the
machine died on the spot.

The only light 'on' is a little light at the entrance to the power plug when
the power line is attached.

( The battery change light will come briefly if the AC power has been off
for a while ).

Absolutely *nothing* happens when I press the power on button.

The machine has a quad core i7, 6GB ram and two 500GB hard drives so
I think a rescue might be in order.

Does anyone know of a good (mail in) repair center in the midwest ( I live
in Kentucky )?

Check with HP. They can probably point you in the right direction. And, while you're at it, you might be able to check and see if it's still under warranty. Good luck!
