Unhappy [Solved] Fedora 17 hangs during installation. (x86-64 Install DVD)

I've been trying to do a fresh install.

With Fedora 16 I had to use the Basic graphics option to proceed with the installation. Fedora 17 has the same issue. It stalls on the grey screen with the fedora logo on the top left and "prev/next" buttons greyed out on the bottom right. I'm not too annoyed by that one. The thing I am disappointed at is that, even when using the Basic graphics option, Fedora 17 hangs after the very last package is installed, just when you'd expect the Post Processing message to appear. The "Next" button on the bottom right stays greyed out. I waited for over 10 minutes for something to happen... I tried Ctrl-Alt'ing to a console but none were available. I can move the mouse pointer but that's all

I did a media check on the DVD and it passed.

My hardware config:

CPU: i7-965
Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 590.
Motherboard: Asus Rampage 2 Extreme
Drives in order of boot priority: floppy, DVD drive, RAID array for Windows 7, Seagate 500GB for Fedora, and WD 2TB drive for backups and Win XP.

Any ideas?

I think it can take a bit longer.
It can take a while to install grub2, the kerenl, look at all the other grubs, the windows, ...
Give it 30 minutes before at least. It's not like anaconda remebers anything it did 2 seconds ago.

I waited longer after the final package had been installed and the success message did appear eventually. A progress indicator of some kind is such an obvious, elementary, and useful visual device to disquish a working process from a hung process that I can't fathom why there is none.

Also, I must have fumbled the keys yesterday because I could get to the consoles today. There's a long delay after the message:

"Writing superblocks and filesystem accounting information: dmke2fs 142 (29-Nov-2011)"

So, you're right you smartypants, you...
