How to make VLC default?

How to make VLC default?
I'm used to VLC. I installed VLC.
If I uninstall Audacious and Rhythmbox, would VLC become default?

Thanks!

Re: How to make VLC default?

If you're using GNOME you can set it in 'System Settings'.

Re: How to make VLC default?

I am using Fedora 17 Gnome, but in the 'System Settings', there isn't a way to do that.

Yes removing the other player would make vlc default.

You can also go to the properties of each type of media file and 'set as default' to vlc too.

Yes, uninstalling Rhythmbox won't show me how to make VLC default for any Mp3 file. Isn't there a "file associations" somewhere?
Thanks!

Re: How to make VLC default?

If you could do as i told in my last post you could set vlc as default.

If you dont have anyother media player vlc must become default.

Thanks!

I also installed: yum install gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly and after few reboots, Rhythmbox too started work with Mp3.
