Driver Ati Catalyst on Fedora 17
Hello,
i tried to install on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6-3155sl, AMD Phenom II Dual-Core N620,Radeon HD 5650M) with F17, catalyst drivers following these commands:
yum reinstall mesa-libGL
yum remove xorg-x11-drv-ati
yum install kmod-catalyst xorg-x11-drv-catalyst xorg-x11-drv-catalyst-libs
reboot
but it seems that catalyst repository don't work...
Could you suggest me?

At this point in time the Catalyst drivers aren't supported by the new X.Org that shipped with Fedora 17. My card is a Radeon HD 6520G and using the open source (by default) driver (Gallium 0.4). Also, the driver listed on ATI's site won't work either, so hopefully it won't be long before they release a compatible version of kmod-catalyst. Till then we gotta wait.

Me too. Gallium makes my system run warmer and I don't want to go to Ubuntu when, imo, Fedora is simply.

Currently downloading the 12.6 beta drivers. Supposedly it fixes the issue for F17!

Update: The drivers work! I've tested all of the Humble Indie Bundle games from today's release and they all ran extremely smoothly. The only issue that I'm seeing is a watermark on the bottom right corner of the screen that says 'AMD Testing use only'. I'm still looking for a way to get rid of that, but any help is appreciated.

I currently co-maintain catalyst for rpmfusion, with the release of 12.6 I will be forced to drop my support due to the fact the morons have just obsoleted my HD4xxx card.

I hate when they do that. I had a Radeon x1200 and they obsolete my card in the middle of beta testing windows 7 and lost my video acceleration in ubuntu.

So, people with HD4xxx cards won't be able to run Fedora17 with Catalyst driver??
I wish my laptop had NVidia card...
If I buy another one, it will have it.... sure

And you wont be able to use Fedora 16 on the kernel update because the kmod-catalyst drivers won't be updated for that card. So you'd have to not update so you can keep the drivers that support your card. I went through that before. NVIDIA is the way to go.

I will post the code here. I don't know about anyone else, but my fglrx_drv.so is located elsewhere.
Copy and paste this in GEdit/Kate:

Save as fixwatermark.sh
chmod +x to make it executable

then log out and back in.

Hello everyone ............... I have a HD6770 but with the driver fedora 17 does not have the 'audio over hdmi ..... I had this problem with Fedora 16 but just installavo Drivers Ati the audio working ... there is a solution without installing the ATI driver? Sorry for my x Ingese'm using google translator.

Here's a question.. I use Wine for WoW and a few other games. I had ways to get the 32-bit driver for wine using kmod, but since I have to use the 12.6 beta drivers, how would i get the 32-bit to install too for wine?
