no network since update

Hi!
I just updated Fed 16 this morning, and I noticed now that there is no longer a network icon in the top bar. If I go to System settings/Network I get 'the network service is not compatible with this version'

How do I get out of this one?? I can't connect to reinstall Network Manager.

How can I get the internet connections up and running manually? What is wrong with this version. I have the newest kernel from updates.

Having the same trouble. When I updated from Kernel Linux 3.3.6 to Kernel Linux 3.3.7.

Booting back into Kernel Linux 3.3.6 restores my wireless and a smooth running F16.

I downloaded networkmanager.rpm tried to install it, but I get

failed to install NetworkManager-0.9.1.90-5.git20110927.fc16.x86_64.rpm no transaction

What does that mean?? How can I get Fed 16 connected to the net again?

Well updating and booting into Kernel Linux 3.3.6 caused problems with my system locking up.
So I thought I would try Fedora 17, was not able to get it installed

I am now running Linux Mint Debian Edition 201204, no trouble with wireless, and perhaps a more stable Kernel Linux 3.2.0. Anyway, I am digging the desktop environment of MATE, very smooth, and I can populate the desktop with files and folders (aww the good ole days)

Not sure what went wrong with Fedora and my hardware (Toshiba Satellite C655), but I need stability, and Clem has done a nice job with LMDE 201204.

Guess I would suggest trying Debian in the flavor of Mint

I have a Toshiba C600D. It has caused problems with endless crashes since I installed Fed 16. Every time I unplug the dsl cable, it froze completely! With the 3.3.3.6 Kernel, I had a few days where that did not happen, then came the update to .7 and a completely different set of problems!!

You don't recommend Fed 17 then?? I was hoping it would be an improvement!! But it isn't yet the final release is it??

Oh yeah, btw, wireless has never worked at home with Fed 16, although I use the correct WEP key and it sees the wireless netwoek. It does work on an open network at school though, so it ain't broke!

You might have some luck with F17, I was never able to get it installed, so was not able to use it. It is a final release too. If you are able to boot up F17 live cd, that would be a good test of wireless function. The only problem would be updating, as the install would place Kernel Linux 3.3.4 on your hardware, and then updating would bring back Kernel Linux 3.3.7 (and trouble)

And up until the Kernel Linux update to 3.3.7, Fedora was very smooth and performed well on my Toshiba Satellite C655.

I had that problem with Fed 16 Live CD, it would not install.

But using the DVD, it worked ok. You might try it.

I did this:

[root@pedro-bedro ~]# iwconfig wlan0 essid any

now I have internet again in Fed 16

I still have no network manager icon top right , and no clue what I have done. Can any of you gurus explain this???
