libreoffice --view option doesn't work

I don't get this, if I run
Quote:
libreoffice --help
I see there's a valid option called "--view" which does:
Quote:
open the specified documents in viewer-(readonly-)mode.
but if I run that option with libreoffice I get:

Quote:
Unknown option --view
Run 'soffice --help' to see a full list of available command line options.
I remember in the past I was able to use --view but it now no longer works.
I've got Libreoffice version 3.4.5.2-13 on Fedora 16

Re: libreoffice --view option doesn't work

It sounds like a regression from libreoffice 3.5. Did you submit a bug report?

Re: libreoffice --view option doesn't work

Hmm, I am running libreoffice3.5-3.5.3-2 that I downloaded and installed manually on SL6x and the command works fine with this version.

EDIT: Well not fine, I can edit the file when viewing with the --view option

Re: libreoffice --view option doesn't work

In LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 in Arch, --view is accepted and any specified file is opened, but it is editable, not read-only. I do get this warning:
Quote:
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
There is a Read-only checkbox on the File/Open dialogue, which works (without the javaldx).

Re: libreoffice --view option doesn't work

Solved

Ha! The geniuses changed "--view" to be "-view" only one dash but the --help statement stays two dashes

I had an idea and tried:
Quote:

libreoffice -view mydocument.docx
and it opened with the file in read-only mode as it should
