Unhappy Fresh installation: how to get "boot:" prompt?

Any version of Fedora will do.

I'm trying to install an older version in a virtual machine. I'm installing from a DVD. Anaconda crashes, preventing the installation from going forward.

I want to bring up a boot prompt so I can try parameters like "linux nofb" and see if that fixes the problem. But I don't know how to do this.

This is a fresh install.

Re: Fresh installation: how to get "boot:" prompt?

Press Esc Key on the menu screen (the one stating "Install/Upgrade Fedora") before the installer starts.

Re: Fresh installation: how to get "boot:" prompt?

It never gets that far. A text dialog comes up saying it's loading drivers. Then anaconda is launched, then X starts, then before I can see anything else X exits and anaconda crashes, saying:

Quote:
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'parse_args'
install exited abnormally [1/1]

I found a thread here complaining about the same problem.

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpo...0&postcount=22

The user writes:
Quote:

the file created by anaconda himself /root/anakonda-ks.cfg ... is buggy !!!

... your file ks.cfg is not correct man : you have "forgotten" (fedora anaconda ... i mean) the %end .... under %packages ....
My next task is to figure out how to fix this.
