totem tries to play flash in firefox

The totem plugin tries to start playing flash files in firefox. but then it doesnt play most of the files too.
Tried uninstalling totem. But still can't make firefox play with adobe flash player.

Following is my plugin setup and I have already checked the preferences>applications and swf file has been set to play with adobe flash player.

I want my flash files to play with adobe flash player.

Any ideas

I fixed it by removing totem-mozplugin

yum remove totem-mozplugin

Just for other's benefit...

I also had the gxine-mozplugin installed here, and it picked up playing flash once I removed the totem-mozplugin. So I had to remove it as well.

Does gxine-mozplugin play all formats from youtube?

nope. doesn't play any of them. I don't know why it takes over and tries to even play the flash objects.

it's the vegas plugin based on libquvi. There are certain supported sites, see here --> http://quvi.sourceforge.net/

I deleted it, but I have to do that everytime totem-mozplugin gets updated. Basically it's a nice idea, but it grabs ALL flash content, even on sites, that are not supported.

I'm going to add exclude=totem-mozplugin to /etc/yum.conf and hope it doesn't affect anything else. If it doesn't hurt anything else then totem-mozplugin will never be reinstalled or updated.

thanks for this tip. Didn't know that this option existed in yum.
I used to use this option in Arch linux for kernel updates, coz they release kernels every week.I was sick of it.

There is a fix to the totem-mozilla plugin in TC4, flash now plays flash and totem-mozilla plugin plays apple trailers, etc...
