[SOLVED] strange Places menu.

In my fc14, at the top of the screen, there are the menus for Applications, Places, and System. When I click on Places, the usual menu opens, with Home Folder, Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads, Computer, 12 GB File System, Network. Now when I click on Home Folder, Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads, or 12 GB File System, the folder opens with gedit, with message this is a directory with the red stripe indicating gedit cannot handle this file.The only big thing I have done lately is install Wine. If I uninstall gedit, the problem disappears; when I reinstall, it returns. Any ideas?

Seen this on the forum many times, opening different apps. Places has lost the association to open Nautilus. Try searching the forum for:

places opens vlc

I found a solution in an archive from 2008. Go to Places menu, go to Computer, go to home folder, right click on each offending folder and choose open with, in the resulting list, choose open folder, and that is it. Thank you for your reply.
