Hello fedora users
I'm finally making the move to fedora, I have used linux (briefly) before with Ubuntu, F16, & even setup a working Arch system. As of earlier this week I just can't stay away from linux any longer and I am in the process of making a clean install. Here's what I need help with if any of you much more experienced fedora users don't mind helping me.
I have 2 ATI 5870s in my rig and had issues getting the drivers to work properly and access this hardware with F14-F16.I had made an attempt to get this install working about a year ago. Now I'm reading that F12 has proper support from ATI drivers and that should work. The question is simple: What is the latest version of Fedora that ATI has supported drivers for the 5870s; Are there any other details I should know about this install and how it should be done correctly? Ideally I am using this rig for programming and gaming and would like to play all my favorite games without having to setup a partition for windows(although I'm not entirely against that...but just prefer to not have windows on my machine). Help much appreciated!
Please note: I have done a substantial amount of googling to get these answers and there are quite a few threads on drivers and installs as well as versions it works with and doesn't work with. Most of the research results in many outdated posts from 1-3 years ago saying F12 has support from ATI but other versions weren't as stable. I'm asking in the forums to get an updated answer if someone has it.
Thanks in advance!
