Problem with Realtek RTL8188CE

Hello!

I have booted up Fedora 16 on my MSI X370. Everything works except the WiFi card. The WiFi card is an Realtek RTL8188CE. When searching on the Internet (searchword: Fedora (Linux) Realtek RTL8188CE) I came up blank . First time it has happened to me so I am asking if anyone else have had some problems with Realtek RTL8188CE cards? And if someone maybe have an idea on how to solve this thing?

If someone has a better search parameters, I would like to be informed on it so I can search better.

Thank you for reading my post.

I found the source file from Realtek after some digging. I would love to give the link but I get an error that says that I as a new poster can't have url in the post.

Scrolling down I found a download page and downloaded the Linux driver. Now, I only need to learn how to get the driver to work. It is in a ta.gz format. But not to worry, Google will help with that .

Thank you all for such great help for a n00b. You are awesome!

Re: Problem with Realtek RTL8188CE

Which kernel are you using? You probably need the newer file. You also might need kernel-headers or kernel-devel to compile. Then try something like:

Code:
tar xzvf ~/Downloads/92ce_se_de_linux_mac80211_0005.1230.2011.tar.gz
cd rtl_92ce_92se_92de_linux_mac80211_0005.1230.2011
less readme
make
su -
make install

Re: Problem with Realtek RTL8188CE

I have tried now for a couple of weeks now and I can not get the WiFi to work. I will try Ubuntu and see if that makes it. Different kernel, who knows?
