The above link is my rant. I am a happy Linux Desktop user. I don't even have Windows on a VM. I have Mint on the VM but not Windows.

I have said this in the thread to which Dan has posted the link to too. Most people I know are switching to Linux from Windows 7. The reasons are quite varied. Some like the sheer flexibility of using linux & some do not want to deal with windows and malware and virus.

So, based on my experience (and others too from what I see in the forum), if at all, it looks like linux desktop users are on the rise and I just find it ridiculous listening to all these claims of dying linux desktop.

My company is switching to W7 from XP for about 98% of the work stations. Linux is available to a select few but has to be purchased (Red Hat) buy within budget. 2% of those users does not include me, unfortunately. But at home, I have total freedom.

I guess all I say'n is that there is really no way to get a accurate percentage because we purists are not buying products and therefore are not counted in the polls.
