Exclamation NFS problem with FC10

Hello,
I have had fedora 10 for years and for an unknown reason, it can't be launched anymore.

I have it on a dual mode boot. After choosing fedora after booting, fedora seems to be launched. Then, I have a screen with a list of users who want to long in. On this page, by clicking on hazard logo (exclamation point in a triangle, like the icon that I used for my current message) on right bottom of the screen, I can see that every thing is OK, except NFS (failed) as well as internet (wired and wireless). I use wireless.

Otherwise, if I want to log in, I can enter my user name and password but will get a blank or dark (couldn't remember) screen. Since the log-in page, there is a rotating oval stuff turning around the mouse arrow on the screen and this can continue forever.

Note that on the dual boot, I have windows that I experience no problem (including internet).

Why did I get problem with NFS and internet?

Thanks for your help as soon as possible,

Haleh

Re: NFS problem with FC10

FC10 has been end of life for years. However, from memory, I believe that by default the nfs service usually has an error starting. That should not prevent your login. If the internet is failing that might be the issue. I suggest you try it with with a wired connection and see if you can log in that way or not.

Re: NFS problem with FC10

Thanks Glenzo for your quick reply.

Unfortunately, connecting to internet with a wired connection didn't help. Here is what I got in booting message (on clicking on hazard logo) in either case, connection with wired or wireless:

starting auditd failed
NFS statd failed
no kdump initial ramdisk found warning
Rebuilding /boot/initrd-2-6-27-41-170.2.117.fc10.i686.kdumping
no module ata- piix for kernel 2.6.27.41-170-2-117-fc10.i686 aborting
starting Im_sensors not configured run sensors detect
starting iexec service starting Avahi done failed

then, the rest is the same for login

Your help is very much appreciated

Re: NFS problem with FC10

After you log in to the "blank or dark screen" can you CTRL/ALT/F2 to a VT?

Re: NFS problem with FC10

No. First, I checked and I get dark screen and not blank. I get a box at the top left corner
Tips
click on left-click to connect/disconnect to input method
click on righ-click to show the input method

and by doing either, clicking on the left or right-click (assuming that was referred to the mouse buttons), nothing happens.

by doing CTRL/ALT/F2, I just get a blinking space (dash) for ever and I have to boot to get rid of the situation. But by pressing ctrl/alt/backspace, I go back to the login page and the rest is the same

Re: NFS problem with FC10

If you are unwilling to upgrade to Fedora 16 why not try Fuduntu (described as a serious distribution) which is a fork of Fedora 14?
