Building a R/O DVD system

Given that I have a F16 system running with a controlled set of applications installed, I have been looking to find any instructions on building a bootable DVD with all the contents from disk. I don't need to use it to build a new hard-drive system, I would just like to boot it and run it from memory without disturbing the existing system(s) installed on the hard drive(s).

Is there any doc to explain this??

I think you'll want to start with an existing .iso or usb bootable image and add packages & configs. The probably using some bootable rw-able media or else booting a virtualization .

Those processes won't create a bootable dvd that is a logical duplicate of the system built to disk, which is not quite the same as a "Spin" as I understand it.

After some deeper reading etc, I suppose it may do what I want. But need to better understand how to use kickstart files to not only select the packages needed, but how to copy over existing files and folders.

I think kickstart may not be the answer. Every example I've seen is used to build/upgrade a system onto the systems hard drives.

I want to build a bootable system onto a DVD using the packages that have been installed on the base system. When the DVD is booted, it should not interfere with any hard drives (possible exception would be to 'use' any existing SWAP partitions), hence a ramdrive must be created to provide temporary r/w space (I assume!). Using DHCP and a randomized host name would also be ok.

Any/all suggestions would be welcome.
