Hello everyone,
I joined this site today, and this is my first post. I installed fedora 16 to my HP media center PC, and now am having a bit of a problem. I took all the recommended steps to installing the OS (downloaded from linux.com website, checked checksum against a recommended program called Hashtab, burned image with InfraRecorder). I installed the OS over the whole hard drive because I knew I didn't want windows anymore. The first time it opened I finished the setup and everything was fine. After reboot, and some more setup, and then a relogin, characters were missing from some words, and the time in the top middle on the desktop. Such as if the time was "12:45", my screen looked like "12 4 " and the word 'Logoff' looked like " og f ". Almost every word was like this (missing letters) in the drop down menus to the top right, but when I went into the programs area in the top left, everything was fine there. I messed with all the settings, and nothing changed, and also did a large update, like 360 updates and 175MB, and nothing changed. This wouldn't bother me so much, but I don't know this system yet, and I don't know whats going on. If I can fix this, I'm sure I would love the system, it's blazing fast so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been searching for anything related to this all day and found nothing so far.
