Whenever I try to switch screens/VTs while using the free radeon drivers, I'm getting this message in Xorg.0.log:
Code:

The switch fails, and I'm thrown back to vt02 each time. If left unused for a portion of time, the screen manages to switch itself into a CLI mode which seems to be remedied by attempting (and failing) to switch screens via ctrl+alt+f#. I was using fglrx, but it was far too unstable for my tastes.
EDIT: Also, when the VT is switched unexpectedly, I can see what was last typed before the switch. It's kind of uncomfortable to know that my passwords could be on full display because the VT was switched by some unknown force.
Any idea what might be causing this?
The card is a Radeon HD 6950.
