According to the file commad, this file contains data. While the characters may not be printable, etc., I would think using the cat command should display them and it does. However, when doing so in multi-user mode (runlevel 3), the bash shell prompt and everything I type thereafter is illegible. I have to either reboot or go into graphical mode to resolve the problem.
Might be a bug?
