Re: fedora 15: recent "yum update" has no kmod-nvidia-PAE update available?
Nope. Once again, I am not going to accept enabling *every repo, including Rawhide, Testing, etc. to fix a problem when going to Leigh's Nvidia Guide (check the Fedora Set-Up Guides, above) and install the akmod-nvidia is a better option. Akmod-nvidia will build drivers against any new kernels that come along and will not interfere with the kmod-nvidias.
In my case, I've got both installed and it works just fine. The akmod keeps things running along and the kmod-nvidia updates sometime a day or two later. No big deal, no waiting.
Here's the thing to anyone who's not a seasoned Fedora or linux user: If you enable "all" repos you may fix an occasional issue without any backlash, however sooner or later, you'll try it on a problem that includes a ton of dependent packages and you have a frankendistro that never updates properly. So, if you do need to get ONE specific package from updates-testing, do so very cautiously. In this case, we know that a kmod-nvidia's only hours or a day or so away. Waiting's a far better option than taking chances.
