Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
Hi
Handbrake cant be in Fedora because it relies on patent encumbered codecs.

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
how about having infinality like font smoothing and fontconfig default settings in fedora?
chromium browser daily build could be added to official repos... it doesnt include flash so no proprietary troubles, i guess.

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
Hi
Again. Patent encumbered font technology of proprietary stuff wont be added. Daily builds are available for Chromium upstream and usable in Fedora. wont be in Fedora by default

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
gwaei - Japanese-English Dictionary for GNOME is now missing from F16 repository. It was in back to F15 and F14.

http://www.adebenham.com/mtpfs/
FUSE filesystem for Media Transfer Protocol. Recently much more valuable since Android doesn't support USB block device access on the Galaxy Nexus any more and that may be the trend for other phones.
In case it helps, I'm willing to maintain this package.

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
it is in the F16 repo, but hasn't been rebuilt for F16. It still has the F15 naming, so that might be where the confusion is.
The F15 package should work fine on F16, though.
using the F16 repos:
Code:
Available Packages
Name : keepassx
Arch : x86_64
Version : 0.4.3
Release : 2.fc15
Size : 790 k
Repo : fedora
Summary : Cross-platform password manager
URL : http://keepassx.sourceforge.net
License : GPLv2+
Description : KeePassX is an application for people with extremly high demands
: on secure personal data management.
: KeePassX saves many different information e.g. user names,
: passwords, urls, attachemts and comments in one single database.
: For a better management user-defined titles and icons can be
: specified for each single entry. Furthermore the entries are
: sorted in groups, which are customizable as well. The integrated
: search function allows to search in a single group or the complete
: database. KeePassX offers a little utility for secure password
: generation. The password generator is very customizable, fast and
: easy to use. Especially someone who generates passwords frequently
: will appreciate this feature. The complete database is always
: encrypted either with AES (alias Rijndael) or Twofish encryption
: algorithm using a 256 bit key. Therefore the saved information can
: be considered as quite safe. KeePassX uses a database format that
: is compatible with KeePass Password Safe for MS Windows.
Also in the F17 repo too

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
Interesting. Neither yum nor I can find it in the 32bit repos. I wonder if it got overlooked or if I'm doing something wrong.
Code:
wbebrunsonlx(~)$ sudo yum install keypassx
Loaded plugins: presto
Setting up Install Process
No package keypassx available.
Error: Nothing to do
wbebrunsonlx(~)$ arch
i686

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
you are mis-spelling the name..
it is keepassx, not keypassx
and it is in the 32 bit repo as well..
Code:

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
CalculiX would be a great addition to the repositories. It's an open-sourced finite-element engineering tool which is quite capable. Calculix is licensed under the GNU General Public License.

Re: What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
Reference manager jabref would be nice, if included. Now the developer is providing a jar file for use in Fedora. The project page is here
