Installed files disappear after reboot.

Hello, I'm using Fedora 16 to remote desktop into some virtual W7 desktops and for that I need the "rdesktop" plugin. But whenever I reboot the machine running Fedora 16 and remove the USB stick the "rdesktop"-package disappears and I have to reinstall it again.

Is it possible to keep installed packages on my live USB? If so could you tell me how or point me in a good direction. I am new to Fedora and Linux overall.

Also, can I save a RDP file that autostarts when I boot the live USB?

Re: Installed files disappear after reboot.

Hello,

Although the USB pen is writable, the live-usb is still in the mind set of non-writable by default. You need to enable persistant storage on the live-USB. Unfortunatly this means creating it again.

I've made a new Live USB and added some storage space. Is it possible to save a remote desktop file?

Re: Installed files disappear after reboot.

Once you have created the persistant storage it will for all intents and purposes seem like a normal install so you can save anything you want to it. Remember though, with the persistant storage, you can delete and unistall things, but that space does not become free again, as such it will eventually run out of space and refuse to boot.
