Re: Fedora 17 Alpha Test Compose 1 (TC1) Available Now!
So, I was able to install the netinstall in a VM. However, I realized it didn't ask for a username (though it did ask for a password) . Anyone know who I need to pretend to be to log in?
EDIT: Sorry, I've never bothered with a netinstall before, so if I'm asking a stupid question, please bear with me .

Re: Fedora 17 Alpha Test Compose 1 (TC1) Available Now!
Generally, at some point during the install, net or not, you select a password for root. Sometimes, either people miss it or there's a bug in the install--if I remember correctly, I've sometimes just tabbed past it, apparently giving root a blank password, or perhaps there was a bug that I missed.
So, if it boots into text mode, try booting as root, see if you can log in with no password. If it logs into GUI mode, it should have, in theory, given you the option to create a user at first boot, and if it didn't, you can try to get to a console with ctl+alt+F1 or F2, and again, try to log in as root, with no password if you didn't set one during install. If you can do that, then you can give root a password.
Otherwise, something else went wrong during the install--but, at least in theory, you should have had the chance to give root a password during the installation.

You can try the nightly composes for livecds. (Click 'Task Info' links on the rhs eg http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/t...taskID=3766432 for i686 LiveCD and select the download link for the iso at the bottom )

Sorry, cant hold it back....
Wait for F18, as it'll fix the naming issues of F17
Anyways, gecko would probably effect everyone surfing, but the other thing is KDE related only.. though still sucks not to be able to surf
