It can be done, you just need to raise the (firefox) version number
I've got to go to work now, more later

Re: How to install moonlight on fedora 16

Hello again
I have novell moonlight which I installed a while ago so I'm not sure it's the same thing you have but it works on the silverlight websites I've tried, in your home directory is a hidden file .mozilla dig right down to the install.rdf i.e .mozilla/firefox/63ixi0xc.default/extensions/moonlight@novell.com/install.rdf
the "63ixi0xc.default" will most probably be different on your system.
open the install.rdf and look for this line
Code:
<em:maxversion>9.0.*</em:maxversion>
and change it to the version of firefox you have, you can do this with most addons btw, I haven't tried it but you could probably replace the version number with * and it'll never need updating.
You may then need to restart firefox
Hope this helps

Re: How to install moonlight on fedora 16

There's no need to modify files. You just have to install a firefox extension named "Addon compatibility reporter" before of Moonlight. The first extension let you disable the compatibility check of addons with the current version of firefox, so it will let you install Moonlight even if it is reported to work only with lower versions of firefox.

Re: How to install moonlight on fedora 16

The "Addon Compatibility Reporter" wont work as Firefox v.10 effectivelly disable the feature which allows uncompatible add-ons to be force installed.

So the question is how do we get around this issue and install moonlight as biathlon games are comming up on eurosport and i wouldn't want to go back to windows to watch them.

thanks

Re: How to install moonlight on fedora 16

I just wonder why one changes from windows to linux, to install 'm$' derviate (even opensource pendant) software?
So far i havent come by of any site causing issues, and i didnt install moonlight.

imho its just the same with flash, both are technologies mainly used for multimedia on the web, with html5 beeing around the corner, they both will (hopefully) be useless soon.

EDIT:
I admit, i have flash repo installed
