Frippery for F16-64 bit

Hi All,

I had installed GNOME 3.0 (Fedora 15, Ubuntu 11.04): gnome-shell-frippery-0.2.8.tgz
in F15-32 and liked it.

When I installed F16-64, I d/l GNOME 3.2 (Fedora 16, Ubuntu 11.10): gnome-shell-frippery-0.3.6.tgz
and went through the automated untar/install process.

The only change I can see is a tall, narrow box partially visible on the right edge of the Desktop screen. When I put the cursor in it, it moves left and shows the whole box. The only items in it are the desktop image and a miniature screenshot of whichever app is in use.

The only way I can see all of the apps I have opened is to click on Activities in the upper left corner. The desktop comes up with small screenshots of each open app. The F15 Frippery showed all favorite icons to the right of Activities and those in use(text) across the bottom of the screen, both clickable.

The only icon that shows to the side of Activities changes to match whichever app is in use. Clicking on it brings up "Quit."

Possibilities for this:
1. Incorrect/incomplete installation
2. Changes between versions
3. Something else altogether

I thought I might reinstall as a 1st attempt, but I'm not sure of the right wording of frippery to yum erase.

Starting up the learning curve is certainly helping my typing.

Why bother with gnomes-hell + frippery?

Cinnamon does it better and there are many more benefits

You might be able to remove frippery either using yum remove(/erase) package_name. Reinstalling the application might help. However, if you are going to use frippery anyway, why not try cinnamon? Good luck.

Did you enable the extensions under gnome-tweak-tool?
It's called Advanced Settings in the menus. In F16, they default to off
instead of F15 where installed extensions are always-on.
