I have owned this RTL8187B USB wireless B/G adapter for a few years. It has always had a problem with the linux rtl8187 driver in the past showing up with a very weak signal at the access point and I had to use ndiswrapper with the XP 32 bit driver. This is no longer the case. Compiling yesterday's compat-wireless the access point reports a strong signal and the adapter feels warmer. For those who want to try the new driver you can download the latest compat-wireless from this page under where it says "You can get bleeding edge compat-wireless here":
