disable hard disk health reports
Hello,
I'm installed Fedora 16 in my notebook the install process is ok, but i have a little problem. The system constantly notifies that i have problem in the hard disk this also happens when connect/disconnect usb. The message is this: "problems were detected on the hard disk, the disk reported health problems" . My consult ¿which is the service responsible for this? I need to disable.
Best regards.

Re: disable hard disk health reports
That is SMART reporting, I believe. However, I don't really know how to turn it off, as I never really wanted to. I'd rather get and heed the warning than lose data.

Re: disable hard disk health reports
Hello,
To turn off the smart data warnings, open the "disk utility" tool palimpsest. On the left hand side click on the drive, on the right side select the smart data or health button(Not sure the exact name of that button) On the pop up there is a box at the bottom you can check to not give you smart data warnings for that drive.
Hope this helps,

you'd turn off smart with:
Quote:
systemctl disable smartd.service
systemctl stop smartd.service
