FC16 nvidia FX5500 video drivers

Hello,

Please what are the recommended drivers for my nVidia Card on my system?

Because I do not have a good FC16 graphical login screen.
In FC15 there were no problems with it.

On this moment I work with a nVidia card
Code:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 16
	Memory at de000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
	Memory at c0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
Expansion ROM at dfee0000 [disabled] [size=128K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: nouveau
	Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidiafb
My kernel:
Code:
[gastonv@gastonv ~]$ uname -a
Linux gastonv 3.1.2-1.fc16.i686 #1 SMP Tue Nov 22 08:56:28 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Drivers installed:
Code:
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau.i686 1:0.0.16-27.20110720gitb806e3f.fc16
xorg-x11-drv-nv.i686 2.1.18-8.fc16 @anaconda-0
Many thanks for answers,
Greetings
Gaston Verhulst.

You don't have a choice in F16 with your old nvidia card, nouveau is the only option.

To get a working login try

Code:
su
rpm -e gnome-shell --nodeps

Re: FC16 nvidia FX5500 video drivers

Hello,

I have done it and from now the problem of that bad screen is solved now, so I have to thank you very much, it is a great tip!

In FC15 I was working with Gnome 3, but because of that bad top bar in FC16, I had changed to Xfce.
By login in, I can make a choice between the old Gnome and Xfce.

Still one time, many thanks,
Greetings
Gaston Verhulst.
