Is there a way how to put favorites bar on desktop?

Hello,

I have been struggling to find an easy way how to access my favourite applications directly from desktop. Is there any easy way how to display favourites bar on the desktop? Or just put the icons somewhere on the desktop? I believe there has to be some built in option that I am overlooking.

Well, it would help if you tell us when version of Fedora and which desktop you are using.

I presume he's talking about the gnome shell favorites system. The gnome-shell-extension-dock package can help, though unfortunately the version for Fedora 16 doesn't have right-click ability the 15 version did, requiring that one go into the Activities pane to set/organize favorites.

I do <option>t to start terminal
<option>b to start browser
<option>f to start the file program

That seems to cover 80% of my needs.

Oh yeah, sorry, I am using version 16.
