/var/cache too big

Hi,

Is it safe to delete the contents of the /var/cache folder ?
I'm surprised bleachbit doesn't do it. I assume these
folders in /var/* will eventually stop growing, but can
one delete any of their contents safely leaving the empty
folder intact ?

THX
