F15 great, but F16 (beta) don't start on Centrino i855

I have enjoyed differnet Debian distributions on an older labtop, Centrino i855.
The only thing bad, was the wifi - did not function.

I was happy to find out, that Fedora 15 was installed out of the box - with eveything functioning.
Now I tried to install F-16 i386 beta - and the i855 mashine starts from the CD, but only to show the different alternatives - Install, Memory test etc.
Clicking "Install" leaves the mashine silent, blackscreened and with no CD spinning.
I installed the F-15 again - but it anoyes me. F-16 functions well on another mashine.

I have heard of 855-problems in respect to the videocard, but any other with install-experiences on i855?
- any work-around?
- known problem that might become solved later?

- a newbe despite of my age - I'm no UNIX-expert - though some experience with Debian and Mint

Re: F15 great, but F16 (beta) don't start om Centrino i855

hippiedoc: with the FC16 beta i've been sure to grab the latest one ( RC5 )
becuse the standard Fc16 beta always give me a blank screen.

When that occurs, I need to do 1 of 2 methods to disable SElinux - then it works.
This is with a Dell i3 - 2310 and an HP w/Intel Mobility Centrino.

1) reboot, go into recovery mode, launch the " vi " editor & manually edit the
the /etc/selinux/config file and add the line: selinux=disabled
Be sure to comment-out all other lines by inserting a # at the start of each line.

2) Boot the new install medium and at the grub menu, hit TAB to insert an extra command to the default
kernel options. Append the line with space, then add selinux=0

Both the above will launch the installer with SElinux security turned off.
For whatever reason, this fix has enabled me to install FC16 beta on my intel systems.

Re: F15 great, but F16 (beta) don't start on Centrino i855

Thanks Anish for comment.
I am not sure, I have discibed the problem correct - I cannot follow your alternative 1) - do not understand
I am not sure, if the problem was related to the SELinux
I could understand and follow your suggest 2) - but my mashine did still not obey

I fetched the latest nightly F-16 distro - and I unchecked som of the "abilities" from the computers BIAS - and had no problem installing F-16 - from witch I send this message.
Actually
- my problem is solved
- I do not understand quite in detail (or not at all), what the work-around was, so I wonder if anybody can use this experience at all
I will make a new wxperiment: to start from the CD with the normal configuration af the BIAS before I close this thread.
I used CD this time btw - before I had problems with DVD

Well I'm glad you got it going with the nightly. because it has the bug most fixes.

Right after do a fresh install, I also install Fedora Utility, EasyLife and/or Autoplus
.
They add a lot of codecs for dvd playback and a lot more:

This page explains what each does:

Thumbs up Re: F15 great, but F16 (beta) don't start on Centrino i855

Thanks again, Anish.

The Fedora Utility and Autoplus helped me a lot!
I know, if you want to live safe - Flash is no bad but neither the best idea.
- I often listen to broadcasts or have TV-transmission running while doing other things
- I am no specialist in Unix - so using the terminal is slow for me - have to admit, I do not know the use of that quite well (like using at tool without knowing, what it does)

I don't know what Autoplus nor Utility does ether, but I see the result very fast! That suits me! Clever boys and girls having made these apps..

.. I still have not had the time to try the install DVD on the older i855 Centrino
I'm running a newer mashine - also with the newest distro - doing well!

I'm running on a new Dell Inspiron 15R ( i3- 2nd gen, HD3000 1.6GB gpu, w/FC16 64bit) and it is amazingly fast - even though it isn't a power house of a laptop.
I do web development and this Dell is well supported under Linux.
