zfs for linux into rpmfusion

I read here:

http://zfsonlinux.org/faq.html#WhatA...LicensingIssue

That theoretically it should be fine to have a linux distribution go out and get the source for ZFS, then build the kernel module on the machine. The only thing that's forbidden on the ZFS license is distributed the binary module.

So would it be possible to have rpmfusion distribute a zfs source rpm that could be automatically extracted and compiled by a script in the rpm file then we could have ZFS under fedora (with less hassle then just each of us going to zfsonlinux.org and getting the source and building it)

Re: zfs for linux into rpmfusion

As far as I can see ZFS is released under a CDDL license. CDDL is okay for Fedora, even if it cannot be mixed with the kernel GPL license. I see nothing while glancing through CDDL that doesn't permit binary redistribution.

As long as it gets compiled as a loadable kernel module it should be ok? even for inclusion with fedora? or is there something in that license that i have not seen yet?
