2x8gb memory / 4x4gb slots / will it work?

I got a new 16gb motherboard and 2x8gb ram a few months ago and am finally adding them.

However, the motherboard has 4x4gb slots, each with a capacity of 512mb/1gb/2gb/4gb.

Will the 8gb memory cards work in the 512mb/1gb/2gb/4gb slots?
