Setup ASUS U3100 MyCinema on F11

Intro :
This assumes your kernel has the relevant dvb and v4l modules compiled.
Stock kernel has these but current eee kernel does not. I've emailed Quasar8000 to request he build in the required modules to work on eee.

Get the hardware working:
1. Download firmware for Cinema stick
http://www.wi-bw.tfh-wildau.de/~pboe...ib0700-1.20.fw

2. Open command shell & Go to root

3. Copy firmware to /lib/firmware

4. Plug the u3100 into USB port and Verify the loading of the firmware by checking dmesg
usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5
usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0b05, idProduct=173f
usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

dvb-usb: found a 'ASUS My Cinema U3100 Mini DVBT Tuner' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.

dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 50 msecs.
dvb-usb: ASUS My Cinema U3100 Mini DVBT Tuner successfully initialized and connected.

Get the software set up:
1. Download relevant packages
yum install me-tv dvb-apps xine-lib-extras-freeworld gstreamer-plugins-bad

2. Create channel.conf with scandvd
scandvb /usr/share/dvb-apps/dvb-t/au-Adelaide > channel.conf

* the initial scan file used will depend upon your locale - please look under the /usr/share/dvb-apps/dvb-t/ directory to find your locale, or create your own.

** When doing this, make sure you are in a location that has good reception - plugging your U3100 into a building mounted antenna will generally give you better reception than using the provided collapsible antenna.

3. Run me-tv - select 'Import channel.conf' and browse to the directory containing channel.conf and click ok once the file is selected.

4. Add all channels you wish to import from the channel.conf and click OK

5. By default, Me-Tv will auto select which video and audio system to use. If it doesnt work, check the settings from 'View' and 'Preferences' and make sure that the audio and video is correctly set. Under F11 on the eee I have had better results using ALSA rather
than pulseaudio output - this may well change as the pulseaudio code and integration to Fedora matures.

6. If the channels are setup correctly. the EPG will start to populate and you'll get the TV on screen. I didn't have the video or audio on screen until I installed the xine-lib-extras-freeworld.

If anyone needs any assistance, please post your output from dmesg and run as : 'me-tv -v' from the command line to get verbose output

Edit - Also please provide feedback about this guide if you give it a go, I'd like to refine it a bit incase I've not made it clear enough

Kind Regards,
Dohmar
