Smile Sharing files between Fedora 14 and Windows 7

Hi ^^
I'm new to Linux and I just installed Fedora 14 on my laptop as the only OS

I'm wondering about methods I can share files between my F14 laptop and my desktop PC running Windows 7

Given that, before I installed Fedora when I had WinXP, I was sharing files between the two PCs using the wireless internet connection since it's just a home network
So I was wondering if there is a similar way now between Fedora and Win7

I tried the remote desktop with rdesktop but I'm still trying to figure out how to copy files between them
But I came here because I'm still looking for a more intuitive way, like using the wireless home network as with XP (still I'm open to other methods) and I hope you guys help me ^^

Thanks a lot for anyone who took the time to read my post and answer me ^^
Take care

Hello,
Look into Samba
Samba can be installed by yum if it is not installed already.

/etc/samba/

This part of the forum maybe helpful

Re: Sharing files between Fedora 14 and Windows 7

over the home network, you have a couple of options.

I guess one of the best ways is to use samba on your Fedora machine.

If you wish to access your linux files from your Windows machine, then you need to set up samba server on Fedora. If you just want to access your Windows files from your Fedora machine, then you can mount them as cifs without installing the entire samba server.

Look here at post#2 to get you started on setting up samba:

There are other options as well, like ssh, ftp, etc...

Re: Sharing files between Fedora 14 and Windows 7

Thanks guys for answering me ^^

I installed Samba but I guess I have a problem with configuring it

According to the guides I have to add shares (after adding the windows workgroup) and.. hmm I'm not really sure what they are exactly for Samba ^^'
Anyone can help?

Thanks in advance ^^
