Thumbs down systemd and NFS server no start

This is my first experience with systemd. My NFS server is not starting. All my directories are exported fine if I manually start nfsd, rpc.mountd, and "exportfs -a". However systemd does not start those daemons.

I don't see a "nfs.service" under /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/.

Am I'm missing the nfs.service file?

Systemd is a cool idea but a big change from the script start days. Thanks in advance!

Thanks,
//Z\\

Re: systemd and NFS server no start

systemctl enable nfs-server.service

The arbitrarily changed the name in F16 and you have to dig to be able to find it.

I hope this gets added into the F16 release notes so that it's documented someplace.

Lightbulb Re: systemd and NFS server no start

Thanks!

The file nfs-server.service indeed was loaded from "nfs-utils" but I was just confused about it not being in /etc.

The command:
systemctl enable nfs-server.service
makes a symbolic link to:
/lib/systemd/system/nfs-server.service
in
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants

I was used to the startup scripts automatically starting the NFS daemons if /etc/exports existed.

Ciao,

Re: systemd and NFS server no start

yes, systemd is built upon symbolic links and can be a real pain to figure out at times. I believe that nfs-utils used to enable the service when it was installed, but it no longer does anymore. (the name was also changed from nfsd to nfs-server.service)

I had to dig around and search all over the place to find that nfs-server.service when I installed F16. I forget where I finally found a reference to it, now.
