Additional Astronomy Software for Repos

I installed a program called 'VirtualMoon' on my F15 KDE system this morning. I was wondering if anyone has looked into this program.

http://www.ap-i.net/avl/en/download

It can be installed in Windows, Mac and Linux.

Anyways maybe someone can repackage it for the repo's. Installation as a tar file was simple and the executable file is a bin file. The program is an excellent one and would make a great addition to the Astronomy software selections that are available. It also interfaces with Skycharts (cartes du ciel) which is in your Fedora repositories. It took about 5 minutes to install . It was only once offered for Windows but has now included Mac and Linux.

They won't include that entire package in Fedora.

The program is GPL, but I couldn't find the source. If the source isn't available, Fedora won't include it.

And the databases are copyrighted, so Fedora won't include them.

It's still worth putting it on the fedora wishlist (I noticed truecrypt there a few years back and repackaged it as realcrypt for rpmfusion as the license was never going acceptable for fedora).
rpmfusion also have a wishlist.

Re: Additional Astronomy Software for Repos

I meant to suggest putting it into rpmfusion instead of fedora, but yes, I would still add it to the fedora wishlist as well.

I may install this app a little later today and look a lot closer at it. It does appear to be a very nice application if you are interested in astronomy.

Edit:

Whether this package ends up in the fedora/rpmfusion repos or not, I would like to thank rich52 up there for his post and link to this app. I had never seen this one before.
