Fedora 14 Installation problem on Dell Vostro

I have Dell Vostro laptop with Core2 processor 1.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM. I want to install Fedora.

I tried to install it with Fedora_14_ 32 bit and Fedora_14_ 64 bit. After booting by DVD or USB, I get initial blue screen in which I select Install and it starts for few seconds and freezes there, it does not move ahead. I got Fedora 32 bit DVD from Fedora so it should have come with checksum checked. So IMO DVD is ok, it is something else with regard to hardware detection, stopping installation to go ahead. I tried 3 times, but do not go ahead.

Try the option to install using the basic video driver. No promises, but it won't hurt anything to try.

Unfortunately it did not work.

The message it which it hangs is

waiting for hardware devices to get initialized ..........

It's a Dell Standard laptop Vostro 1015.

Today I downloaded Fedora 15 live CD 64 to install it on same Dell Vostro 1015. But I get same problem. After selecting boot option, it looks like booting and hangs. Is there any other way I can install. Right now I am downloading installation DVD and will try instead of Live CD. But not sure if it will work on my laptop. Anyone knows any other solution ?

Hello Sanjay,

This seems to be a known bug. Even, I have faced the same issue with FC12, 14 on Dell Vostro. Now, I am using Kubuntu and installed FC14 on Virtual Box in windows. So far so good for me. I wish they could resolve this issue.
