Problem adding custom application launcher

I have just installed FC7. I am having difficulty adding custom application launchers to my top panel. Whatever I try to add, it does not appear in the panel I can add launcers directly from menu items, but none that I create myself by right-clicking on the panel and selecting add to panel.

This worked fine on FC6. Do I now have to have some kind of permission to add to the panel?

Thanks

You're right - on FC6 there was a default question mark icon that was used if you didn't select one. I got in the habit of setting my launcers and seeing if there was an included icon. If not, I would go back and reset one. Now you have to do it at the same time.

i have other trouble
Starting an app using the launcher don't work because it needs to be started form the folder where it currently lays.
actually i need to execute 2 commands in the launcher: 1) cd /some/where and 2)appname
How to specify working folder? (Sorry for dummy question...)

Re: Problem adding custom application launcher

Create a small script that does the two commands and run the script from the launcher.

an example of this might be ...
Code:
#!/bin/bash

cd /location/goes/here
./applicationNameGoesHere
