    Ugly monospace fonts in Evolution

I just upgraded my system from F14 to F15 and everything else is working quite well, but the monospace fonts in Evolution's mail windows are really ugly. Changing the fonts in Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Preferences -> General seems to have no effect on Evolution at all. Is anyone else having the same problem? Should I file a bug?

Here's a screenshot of gedit and Evolution. In gedit, I've checked "Use the system fixed width font (Monospace)" and in Evolution I've checked "Use the same fonts as other applications". Still, the fonts in Evolution are different than in gedit and much uglier.

In my case, the fonts in gnome-terminal and gedit, for example, look good, Evolution is the only problem. Changing fonts in Evolution does not actually change anything, so I'm thinking this could be a bug in Evo.

Re: Ugly monospace fonts in Evolution

there was a similar bug in evo with the top-right hand pane until I reported it:

    https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=649990

I suspect there may be a similar issue with the message display code, now you mention it. I'll ask Matt Barnes about it.

Re: Ugly monospace fonts in Evolution

so, I tested this a bit more while I was writing to Matt, and found that how it behaves right now really is pretty odd. The options under Mail Preference don't seem to make the slightest bit of difference to the preview pane at all, but they *do* affect messages that you open in their own windows...just not quite as they should. The 'Fixed Width Font' drop down seems to do nothing at all. The 'Standard Font' drop down is used for the stuff besides the message body - the From;, To: and Subject: headers - but it also dictates the size and style of the message body, but not the *font* itself. So if I set that dropdown to Century Schoolbook L Italic 14pt, the headers are in that exact font, but the body text is in the mysterious monospace font...but at 14pt size, and italic! Very odd.

I've written Matt about it, anyway, and I'll see what he says.
