Stop autohide of workspace

This is the most annoying and time consumming thing i find so far, having to move the mouse to the top left corner to get workspace's to show and to the opposite side get them,
Is it possible to simply stop the autohide or make it so if i move my mouse to the right they appear (better) or am i missing some simple hidden option like i was on the shutdown having to press the alt key while the mouse was over suspend
