OpenOffice or LibreOffice?

So LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice eh? ... and has been forth coming with more features recently eh?

But I have a concern. How compatible are macros written for OOo with Libreoffice? I'm looking to write an extension for one of the two. OOo appears to have enough written on the subject. I don't know about LibreOffice and the #DocumentFoundation channel at Freenode is not always active.

Can someone advise if LibreOffice allows for Python Macros? If so, where can One get info/documentation/tips else OOo appears to be a clear leader in this area?.
