large disk copy

This morning I got an alert that my 2 TB seagate drive has bad sectors and may
be failing. I installed another 2 TB WD drive and just used nautilus to copy and paste
some critical folders.

The progress indicator disappeared but I do have an icon on the bar and
when I hover the mouse over it is says 1 file operation active.

I am wondering though how to determine the progress of the copy as
there seems to be no way to click the mouse on the icon.

Also I am going to copy to a second WD 2 TB drive and would appreciate
any advice on another copy method. dd or perhaps the deja backup tool?

Thanks
