VPNC Fails

Hello All,

I have been trying to connect to my University's VPN Server and for some reason vpnc fails. I have configured the vpn settings the same way I did for the past two years. They worked properly on Fedora 12 and 13, but for some reason fails on Fedora 14.

Code:
Jan 6 16:45:20 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> Starting VPN service 'vpnc'...
Jan 6 16:45:20 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN service 'vpnc' started (org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.vpnc), PID 11731
Jan 6 16:45:20 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN service 'vpnc' appeared; activating connections
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN plugin state changed: 3
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN connection 'Swinburne University VPN' (Connect) reply received.
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <warn> VPN plugin failed: 1
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN plugin state changed: 6
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN plugin state change reason: 0
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <warn> error disconnecting VPN: Could not process the request because no VPN connection was active.
Jan 6 16:45:21 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> Policy set 'System eth0' (eth0) as default for IPv4 routing and DNS.
Jan 6 16:45:26 exodusprime NetworkManager[1269]: <info> VPN service 'vpnc' disappeared
Anyone having similar trouble with vpnc? Any ideas how I can solve this?

Thanks,

atwinix

Re: VPNC Fails

No trouble with it at all, but I don't use NetworkManager.

I have an old, but still usable page for it, but aimed more at CentOS at

http://home.roadrunner.com/~computertaijutsu/vpnc.html

However, note that it doesn't use NetworkManager.

Re: VPNC Fails

Same problem.

I had just completed a complete install of Fedora 14 along with all 609 package updates.

The secure file in /var/log had the lines
loading secrets from "/etc/ipsec.secrets"
no secrets filename matched "/etc/ipsec.d/*.secrets"

chkconfig ipsec off didn't work for me.

I didn't see the suggestion for chkconfig ipsec off.

After running this command, vpnc works fine.

Re: VPNC Fails

Here's a thread describing one cause of that problem,
http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-L.../msg00511.html

If you google you'll find lots of reports of this for F14 & the vpnc plugin since September.

Someone here should bugzilla this problem.
