F15 Alpha TC2 DVD

Just for continuation purposes, I'm posting in the new F15 Development forum.

TC2 DVD installed completely by enabling all three repos (that includes Test-Updates). Using less than all three resulted in dependency errors.
Booting up resulted in no panels or gnome-shell due to mutter blowing up. At present I'm waiting for a new mutter to appear in koji.

Re: F15 Alpha TC2 DVD

@detox The only way I know it's mutter is because of an intermittent abrt notification that flashes a couple of times and then disappears. When I'm able to catch the abrt notification, that window also flashes. I haven't had time to track down what debug info's have to be manually installed in order to get a backtrace. Whenever I file a bugzilla without backtraces, they don't seem to go anywhere.
Adam has a tracker in Bugzilla about Gnome shell failing and not moving to fall back. If I can get the messages file off of the install, I'll post a comment later.

Re: F15 Alpha TC2 DVD

Well, so far, just installing with the netinstall.iso.

The good--it no longer requires me to put in a complete URL, seems to just grab the packages. Hrrm, is that new? Sigh, I find I don't remember now, usually I grab the first CD (rather than netinstall, because it was a nuisance typing out the url--so, can someone tell me if that's a new improvement?)

I see they're using the new naming for ethernet devices. It's not that big a deal, but I tend to agree with the slashdot comment that called it overcomplicated and unnecessary. Still, especially for the home user, not a big deal, and possibly helpful at times on a server rack.

---------- Post added at 07:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:05 PM ----------

I've now installed it on a VM but haven't done anything with it. Minor bug, added wheel to sudoers, and created a user in the wheel group, but the user couldn't use sudo. Fonts were a little funny, but I hadn't installed guest editions, so that might be nothing, though I have sometimes found that in some Debian based distros, triple-U and mint, that some characters would be strange in xterm, though not Gnome terminal.

su - c works as expected.

Biggest issue, though I assume it will be fixed quickly, was when I went to install a large batch of packages yum install x11-xorg-* I got an error about the gpg key.

/etc/inittab is no longer the place to do runlevels--however, they have directions as to how to set a runlevel right there in the inittab file, which is, IMHO, VERY well done, considerate of the users.

That interface naming annoys me, but I'm easily annoyed these days, so that's no big deal.

I should add, that I suspect to the typical desktop/networkmanager user, they won't even notice the interface thingie.

Re: F15 Alpha TC2 DVD

The TC2 dvd installed fine, save for firstboot did not run...I went in and added a user after rebooting to text,
then the next reboot after the update (no problems) firstboot ran
anyhow all seems ok at least for my short time of configuring it.
