Is there a way to install guest os on a USB HD using KVM on F13 x64?

Does anyone do this? From what I gather it needs to create the guest in /var/lib/libvirt/images/
The usb drive is formated and mounted when I run virtual machine manager and I can see the drive and access it but it is not part of the storage pool.
I want to set up a few of test OS guests on an external drive
If this isn't the way to go, is using Virtualbox or VMware a better answer?

Thanks!

I have done similar in the past using VirtManager or qemu-kvm . I used to partition the external drive first and use the whole partition for the VM as raw. I don't remember having any issues from doing that.

Thanks for the reply!
I got it to work, the dialog box for Virtual machine manager doesn't provide a way to create a new file, this is what threw me off.
I had to select the USB harddrive and in the next step, enter the name of the new file manually.
Once I did this it went and created the the file to store the guest os in.

I installed XP on it but when it restarted to complete the process it won't boot, something else I'll have to figure out

Edit: Got that sorted out as well
