Wireless issue, Detecting networks but wont connect "WEP"

Hi, I'm running fedora 13 but I'm having issues with the wireless connection, I can see all the networks in the area but when I try to connect it does not seem to accept the wep key.

Its a Belkin receiver, could do with a little help as this is such a pain. I'm using a pc.

Don't get mad, but I would first double-check the key you're entering. Hey, it's happened before. I've done it, too. Twice.

Is the key a normal ASCII passphrase without unusual characters and spaces?

If it really is a WEP key, then try entering the hexadecimal key generated from the passphrase (instead of the passphrase).

Try deleting all existing connections in NetworkManager, then restart NetworkManager, then try again.

I've tried the same key again and again its all numbers "mobile phone number" and I don't have direct access to the router its password protected either, but the password is correct.

I've just tried the same password on windows and it works, just not on fedora

Could this be a driver issue? I got it connected only once and only for 20 seconds then back the same issue I did not do anything different.

Maybe. I skipped over that since available networks are being displayed. You could go over that issue just for the record. There is no wireless device in the lspci report. So maybe it's using the universal serial bus. Try posting the results of this which might reveal some wireless chipset information...

The Ralink rt2870 wireless chipset in a Belkin USB adapter.

The built-in driver modules for it are loaded.

I don't have any adapters with that chipset, but it's discussed here often. What I know about it is from reading those discussions. All I can say is that many people use the RPM Fusion kmod or akmod version of this driver. The built-in modules are then blacklisted. No promises for this idea since I have never had a reason to try it myself. There is a HOWTO on the subject...

That seems to have worked but not fully, it connects for random amounts of time, some times 2 minutes the most its has stayed connected is 15 minutes.
