realtek soud card

I have a realtek sound card in my notebook. The sound works perfectly, but the driver is not able to determine when I'm with a headset or a speaker connected and switch to the computer's speakers or the analog output. It is possible to change the output manually, but it is not practical. There is a solution to this?
