ATI proprietary driver problems

Having set SELinux to permissive, I got the ATI Proprietary driver to work on my laptop with an ATI Radeon HD3450. I am still having 2 issues:

1. Plymouth now shows the generic graphic at boot instead of the nice graphical one.
2. I can't suspend and resume. When I resume, the display never comes back.

Anyone seen this and possibly have a fix for either problem?

Re: ATI proprietary driver problems

1. I think the nice graphic needs KMS and this isn't supported by the Catalyst driver (the free one is able to do it)

2. I've the same problem with the free driver and a HD 4500.
