Touchpad Scrolling - Dell Latitude E6410

Hi all,

My Dell Latitude E6410 has an ALPS touchpad (as well as a pointer stick) and I'm keen to try and get the scrolling working on it. Can somebody point me in the right direction as far as drivers? Cheers.

Can you be more precise about the problems you have? Basic touchpad functionality should be working out of the box through the X server.

The touchpad and clicking works, but the scroll bars on the side do not. Nor does the scroll button on the pointing stick cluster.

Seems you are hitting a kernel bug here, see

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590880

It could be a good idea to add your findings to the bug report.

Well that's certainly annoying. Thanks anyway.

Alps touchpad now works for me on E6410 - Fedora 16, Kernel 3.1.7-1.fc16, since a couple of weeks ago. (Jan/Feb 2012).

That bug should be fixed, it looks like, based on the bugzilla.

Did you try accessing synaptics properties?
Code:
synclient -l
Look for property VertEdgeScroll ..
