    F13 and Inkscape 0.48

Inkscape is probably on my top 5 most used programs for my work but for some reason the latest 0.48 version is not packaged yet for F13. Been waiting for couple of weeks now and it would be great to have all the bug fixes and new goodies as it was quite some time for 0.47 release.

So ... should I just wait, send a update request to someone, wait for F14 which seems to have that, try to build it myself?

    Re: F13 and Inkscape 0.48

    Hello,

I've built quite a few packages myself .... pretty easy really ...

    1. Just take the original srcrpm, install it (ends up in $HOME/rpmbuild).
    2. Edit the appropriate "numbers" in the spec file ... e.g. to match the new package tarball
    3. copy the new tarball to $HOME/rpmbuild/SOURCES
    4. rpmbuild -ba <NAME>.spec
    5. Install the new package from $HOME/rpmbuild/RPMS/<ARCH>/<NAME>.rpm

MOST of the time, it really is that easy. And if you follow the naming/numbering convention already used in the original spec, yum will auto update when a newer version is available.

BTW, I use inkscape also, but was unaware of the newer release, so I'll probably be building it before the weekend ends .... thanks for the heads up ....

    Have fun!

    Re: F13 and Inkscape 0.48

    Thanks for your message.

I really appreciate those instructions as I might go that route and rebuild Inkscape with them. I'm not really a pro on RRM building but I always wanted to know how to do that. This week I did my first rebuild with ffmpeg with aac enabled and it seemed to work ok

Let me know if there is any dependency problems if you do it for yourself.

    Inkscape Rock'n'Rolls...

    just chiming in here

yea, inkscape is an extremely important desktop user application
from my POV it's not far from besting CorelDraw and Illustrator (OK I'm suiting up with the armor)

Hi, I needed this version too, so I had to build the rpm for F13, I have uploaded it to http://www.mediafire.com/file/pxejxs....fc13.i686.rpm you can try it.
