Random Freezups Quake 4 + Wine games.

Hi just wondering if anyone knows anything i can check?

I get random freeze ups on a lot of games under wine so but have been living with it.
Doom 3 native runs flawless but I just got Quake 4 and it freezes randomly a lot.
You just have to wait and it sort of flickers then unfreezes. I am running it in a window as full screen it seems to lock-up completely.

I have a geforce 9800 with rpm fusion kmod drivers.
Running FC13x64 plus latest updates. Running with compiz off also.

If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hi thanks for reply.
Am running crossover games 32 bit.

Quake 4 is native though.

Does anyone here play quake on fedora? Does it work ok?

I played it on Fedora 10 and there was only a choppy sound issue that needed some digging in configuration to switch it to SDL, but overall game was running fine.

What sort of graphics card were you using?

I found a bit in the game where i can get it to freeze most of the time. Its just a little room with a door switch. Hardly a lot going on screen.

Also sometimes when in full screen mode it froze in the menus.

I have tried with cpu and graphics card throttling off, still the same.
The screen tends to do a little flicker when it freezes.

No one else seen this problem??

Try NoFlip - I needed it, to make quake4 stable with an nvidia card.

No flipping seems to lengthen the times between freezeups but doesn't remove them completely. I am able to play assasin's creed now before it froze before you got anywhere is the game.

What is this for?
Does it go in xorg.cfg?
Code:
export __GL_YIELD="NOTHING"
